I hope to learn about how educational technology can be used to enhance student learning and engagement. In particular, I would like to know how technology can be adapted to support students with diverse needs and backgrounds. As a future educator, I understand that technology will play a huge role in how my students will consume course content. I want to apply what I learned in this course by integrating technology in ways that will support student learning goals, inspire critical thinking, and help develop an inclusive classroom environment.
My prior experiences using technology in educational settings have primarily involved scheduling, presentation software, and collaboration tools. As a student, I have used platforms such as Canvas for coursework, Google Workspace for collaborative efforts, and various Microsoft applications. I have also worked with instructional technologies such as online discussion boards like Packback and digital quizzes, which helped me retain course material and provided instant feedback. These experiences have shown me both the benefits of technology (i.e. flexibility and access to information) and the challenges, including uneven access and the risk of academic dishonesty.
My personal learning network consists of faculty at the College of Social Sciences and Public Policy, my cohorts in the Research Intensive Bachelor Certificate program, and my family that have supported my interests in education, social science, and public affairs. To support my learning, I regularly use online academic journals, educational videos, podcasts, and traditional resources such as books and peer conversations. I also rely on several digital tools for organization, note-taking, and research. These resources help me stay focused, work through complex topics, and further develop new skills.
